Please Join us in Celebrating Colorado’s Judiciary!

The Colorado Judicial Institute’s 18th Annual Judicial Excellence Awards will be held virtually Wednesday, October 7, at 5 p.m. The event will recognize five judicial officers for their outstanding service on the bench as well as raise critical money for CJI's Judicial Education Fund.

Your sponsorship of this event supports not just the Judicial Education Fund but also the on-going work of CJI.  Just this year, CJI has:

·  Provided the sole sponsorship of Colorado’s Self Represented Litigant Day which has educated over 3400 indigent Coloradans on legal issues.

·  Created and distributed Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediation guides to help both judges and litigants navigate mediation.

·  Teamed with the Colorado Bar Association on the Diversity on the Bench Initiative to guide under represented populations onto the bench.

·  Collaborated with the CBA on Our Courts Colorado to educate Coloradans, including high school students, about our state's unique judicial system including programs on navigating immigration and bankruptcy courts.  Over 20,000 Coloradans to date have gone through this program.

·  Financed, through the CJI Judicial Education Fund, 57 scholarships for Colorado judges to improve their skills for the people of Colorado and bring that education back to their judicial districts.

This event honors the excellence that is found every day
in our state’s judiciary. This year, CJI congratulates:

District Court Judge Larry Schwartz,
10th Judicial District

County Court Presiding Judge Theresa Spahn,
Denver County

Magistrate Jami Vigil,
4th Judicial District

Chief Justice Nathan Coats,
Colorado Supreme Court

Judge Robert Hawthorne (retired),
Colorado Court of Appeals

CJI will also recognize the extraordinary efforts of Colorado’s court system during the COVID crisis with a special award to the Chief Judges Council which has been leading the response.

This year, as the pandemic continues and judicial funding is slashed, CJI expects to have even more requests for financial help from the judicial branch.

Will you sponsor this year's awards as we honor the rule of law and these outstanding achievements and continue our work to keep our judiciary healthy for the people of Colorado?  Sponsorships are available at a variety of levels.
